Archery term
Center Shot
Definition
Center shot is the left-to-right alignment of the arrow rest so the arrow points correctly relative to the string and the bow's centerline as it leaves the bow. It is set by adjusting how far the rest, and on a recurve the plunger, positions the arrow sideways.
Why it matters
Correct center shot gives the arrow a clean, straight path past the riser so it flexes and recovers predictably, and getting it close is a starting point before fine-tuning left-right flight. An incorrect center shot causes the arrow to leave at an angle and produces poor horizontal grouping, which is why setting it is an early step in tuning.
