Archery term
Group
Definition
A group is the cluster of arrows on the target from a series of shots aimed at the same point. Its size, the spread between the arrows, describes how consistently the shots landed together.
Why it matters
Group size is the basic measure of consistency, separating it from sight setting: a tight group shows repeatable form and equipment even if it is off-center, and the sight is then adjusted to move that group to the bullseye. Reading where and how arrows group is also central to tuning, since patterns in the group reveal spine, rest, and form issues to correct.
