Archery term

Kisser Button

Definition

A kisser button is a small disc or bead fixed to the bowstring that touches a consistent point on the archer's lips or the corner of the mouth at full draw. It gives a tactile reference, complementing the hand-to-face contact of the anchor.

Why it matters

By touching the same spot on the face every shot, the kisser button helps verify a consistent vertical head and string position, which supports a repeatable anchor and steadier aiming. It is a simple, low-cost reference often used alongside or instead of a peep sight, especially in barebow and traditional shooting.
