Archery term
Anchor Point
Definition
The anchor point is the fixed spot on the archer's face or jaw that the drawing hand or string contacts at full draw, reached the same way on every shot. Common references include the hand against the jaw or the string touching the nose or lips.
Why it matters
A consistent anchor point fixes the rear end of the aiming system in the same place each time, which is essential for repeatable aiming and accuracy. It works together with draw length, the peep or kisser, and follow-through to make the shot repeatable, so establishing a solid anchor is a foundational element of form.
