Archery term

Field Point

Definition

A field point is a simple, conical or bullet-shaped metal tip screwed or glued onto the front of an arrow for target practice and field shooting. It is sized to match the arrow's insert and is sold in standard weights such as those measured in grains.

Why it matters

Field points concentrate weight at the front of the arrow and pull cleanly out of foam and bag targets, making them the standard tip for practice and target archery. Their weight is a key input to an arrow's spine match and front-of-center balance, so point weight is chosen deliberately when building arrows.
